# zicula-tax-expense-kit — free sample

Three real files from the full kit (25 files), each **trimmed to taste** — enough to
judge the quality, not enough to run your quarter on:

- `write-off-categories-slice.md` — a 5-of-15 slice of the write-off categories guide
from `guides/`: the intro, five categories with their "what belongs here / examples /
keep as proof" columns (Advertising, Contract labor, Travel, Deductible meals, Other
expenses), plus the complete "three habits" section. The full guide covers all fifteen
categories and its table defines the exact names the expense tracker's dropdown uses.
- `quarter-checklist-preview.md` — section 1 ("Close the quarter", 30 min) of the
printable quarter checklist from `checklist/`, complete with the quarter-totals table.
Sections 2–4 (re-estimate, pay/set aside, look ahead) are summarized so you can see
  what the full one-pager adds.
- `rules-us-federal-excerpt.json` — an excerpt of the estimator's US-federal rule pack
from `estimator/rules/`: valid, readable JSON with its as-of date and official source
links, a few values kept (the $1,000 estimated-tax trigger, the $400 SE threshold, the
four quarterly due dates) and the rest marked `[full kit]`. This is the transparency
the whole kit is built on — the calculator shows its math and cites its sources.

What the full kit adds (the other 22 files):

- The quarterly estimator: an offline HTML calculator + readable JS engine that computes
  SE tax, income-tax set-aside %, per-quarter amounts, the safe-harbor target, the next
deadline, and a late-payment interest illustration — every result printed with its
  as-of date and sources
- Complete rule packs: the full US-federal JSON, plus Germany and France organizer
mini-packs (deadlines + questions to bring to a local professional — no rates by design)
- The three trackers as CSVs: expense log (15 categories + receipt references), invoice-ready
income log, and mileage log — with example rows, column conventions, and the tracker
guide that keeps them alive all year on a 10-minute weekly habit
- Two more guides: the quarterly routine (close → estimate → set aside → file away, with
how US underpayment interest works) and what a clean invoice-ready record contains
- The calendar: an importable .ics with the four US estimated-tax deadlines (alarms at 14
and 3 days) plus generic quarter-close reminders
- The onboarding layer: SETUP (unzip to first estimate in ~10 minutes), CUSTOMIZE (how to
safely edit the rule pack for a new year or jurisdiction), and PLAYBOOK-14D (two weeks
  to make the routine stick)
- A visual tour: five screenshots of the real files, from the buyer README to the
  PLAYBOOK-14D plan
